Free bagels for Passover?

Back in the small and beautiful country of Moldova there was a time when local kids were not allowed to play with the Jewish children next door, for the fear of contamination, trouble with authorities and just generally appearing not cool.  However when the time of Easter and Passover came, our neighbours would all of a sudden become unusually friendly, offering colorful eggs, cakes and the special fluffy raised bread called kulich, Russian for challah.  The real purpose of the unexpected friendliness was to make Jews eat bread during Passover.  I was reminded of the old custom this morning, when in an effort to reward associates for the successful first quarter the senior managers at my work offered everyone fresh bagels as the free breakfast treats.  I am sure they did not think of enticing anyone to break the laws of Passover, just trying to do something nice in celebration of Easter, cluelessly following the old tradition...
